Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) agenda should they secure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Modi emphasized that the BJP manifesto, called the ‘Sankalp Patra,’ extends beyond the next five years. It is designed to lay the foundation for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
Seeking a historic third term, Modi told the publication, “The last 10 years have only been a trailer. There is a lot that I want to do.” He explained that the first term addressed the gaps left by six decades of Congress rule, and the second term set India on a rapid growth path. The third term, he asserted, would be a period of unprecedented development.
Modi indicated that the primary focus of the BJP’s third term would be accelerating progress across all sectors to realize the vision of a developed India by 2047. He stated that much remains to be accomplished and assured that this will be among the most thrilling eras in India’s independent history.
Furthermore, Modi expressed his commitment to enhancing the GYANM model, which aims to empower the poor, youth, farmers, women, and the middle class.
Addressing the delimitation exercise in the potential third term, Modi described it as an established process that has occurred multiple times. He expressed confidence that the BJP’s clear intentions and track record would support them in addressing future issues.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases, with the final phase on June 1 and vote counting on June 4. Modi is contesting from the Varanasi parliamentary seat for the third time. In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured 303 seats with a 37.38% vote share, while Congress won only 52 seats. This time, the BJP aims to win 400 seats.
