Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday appealed to citizens across India to actively participate in the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, describing it as a movement that embodies collective responsibility and national pride. Sharing a message on X, Modi expressed, “This cleanliness initiative is truly inspiring. I encourage more people to take part in this campaign and ensure its success.”
The Prime Minister’s call for action coincided with a series of cleanliness drives launched in the capital by senior BJP leaders. In Delhi, party leaders took to the streets with brooms, leading symbolic efforts to clean public spaces as part of the Delhi government’s Seva Pakhwada initiative. The 15-day program, running from September 17 to October 2, was launched to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday through social service and welfare activities.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, joined by party workers and staff from the Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the cleanliness drive at Rose Garden and the surrounding areas near the ITO flyover. Municipal Councillor Ramkishore Sharma and Northeast District BJP President U.K. Chaudhary also joined the effort, emphasizing the need for community participation.
Speaking at the launch, Sachdeva remarked that keeping Delhi clean requires consistent and collective action, not just one-day events. “Cleanliness must become a habit, a part of our behavior, and every citizen must contribute to this mission,” he said.
Similar drives were carried out under the Safdarjung-Sarojini Nagar flyover, where Delhi BJP media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor, South Delhi district president Maya Bisht, Municipal Councillor Arun Bhati, and other party workers led the campaign alongside PWD and municipal employees.
Another symbolic launch took place at Rajghat and the surrounding bus stop areas, where BJP Organization General Secretary Pawan Rana, Municipal Councillor Sandeep Kapoor, and State Spokesperson Yasir Jilani participated with local workers.
The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign continues to be promoted as a mass movement, with leaders across the capital highlighting the importance of cleanliness as both a civic duty and a path to making Delhi and India more beautiful.
