Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that he will embark on a special 11-day ‘anushthan’ (ritual) starting today until January 22, coinciding with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla’s new idol in Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. Expressing gratitude for witnessing this “historic” and “auspicious” event, PM Modi highlighted the importance of representing all Indians during the consecration.
Scheduled for January 22, the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the new idol of Ram Lalla in the upcoming Ram Temple will be performed by PM Modi himself. Despite a hectic schedule and responsibilities, he emphasized his commitment to rigorously following all the rituals and has thus initiated an 11-day anushthan.
PM Modi expressed his feelings of devotion and realization, describing the experience as a unique emotive journey. He acknowledged the significance of the opportunity to fulfill the dream that several generations lived with, stating the depth and intensity of his emotions are challenging to express.
Referring to the scriptures, PM Modi elaborated on the detailed and extensive process of consecrating a deity’s idol, involving rules to be followed days before the ceremony. Dev Pratishtha, infusing divine consciousness into an earthly idol, requires fasting and strict adherence to prescribed rules.
Initiating the ritual from Nashik Dham-Panchavati, considered sacred as Lord Shri Ram spent considerable time there, PM Modi emphasized the awakening of divine consciousness for Yagya and God worship. Seeking blessings for a flawless commitment in mind, words, and deeds, he prayed at the feet of God, remembering the virtues of sages, ascetics, and the people as the form of God.
