Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat on November 15 and 16, during which he is expected to review the progress of the bullet train project connecting Surat and Bilimora. The review will also include an assessment of the ongoing work linking the southern region of the state to Mumbai, as part of India’s first high-speed rail initiative.
Alongside the infrastructure review, the Prime Minister will take part in events marking the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, a revered tribal leader known for his fight against British colonial rule. The commemorative celebration will be held at Dediapada, a tribal town in Gujarat’s Narmada district, where the state government has erected a statue in his honor.
According to officials, PM Modi will arrive in Surat in the morning and travel by helicopter to Dediapada to inaugurate the event. Elaborate preparations are underway for the occasion, which aims to highlight tribal pride and development under the government’s welfare programs.
The Gujarat government has rolled out special initiatives under the New Gujarat Pattern Scheme, allocating around $132 million (approximately Rs 1,100 crore) to improve education, employment, and infrastructure in tribal regions. These efforts reflect the state’s focus on inclusive growth and upliftment of indigenous communities.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is also scheduled to accompany the Prime Minister during the celebrations. The event will underscore the government’s ongoing commitment to tribal empowerment and cultural preservation.
This visit follows PM Modi’s recent trip to Kevadia on October 30–31, where he led the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy. The upcoming Gujarat visit is expected to combine a review of major infrastructure projects with a tribute to India’s tribal heritage.
