On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune, Maharashtra, where he will inaugurate metro train services in the city and also take part in various development projects’ inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremonies. Prior to the main event, the Prime Minister will visit Dagdusheth Mandir for Darshan and Pooja, and he will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award.
The metro train inauguration marks the completion of two sections of Pune Metro Phase I: from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station. These sections will connect important locations in Pune like Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station. The design of some metro stations draws inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, featuring unique designs resembling his soldiers’ headgear and forts.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, capable of using around 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to generate electricity. Furthermore, he will hand over houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC and Pune Municipal Corporation, and lay the foundation stone for more PMAY houses to be constructed by PCMC and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
As a significant honor, the Prime Minister will receive the Lokmanya Tilak National Award, given to individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the nation’s progress and development. The award, presented annually on the 1st of August, commemorates Lokmanya Tilak’s death anniversary. Past recipients include prominent figures like Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Shri N. R.
