Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate LIC’s Bima Sakhi Yojana in Panipat, Haryana on Monday. The event will be attended by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of empowering women to build a developed India.
The Bima Sakhi Yojana aims to create job opportunities for rural women by appointing them as insurance agents. Women participating in this scheme will receive financial support of up to $84 per month in the first year, which will reduce to $72 in the second year and $60 in the third year. Additionally, they will receive an incentive of $25 and can earn commissions by achieving insurance targets.
In its initial phase, the scheme plans to recruit 35,000 women as insurance agents, with plans to expand to an additional 50,000 women in later phases. The program will first launch in Haryana before expanding nationwide.

Women aged 18 to 50 years
Minimum qualification: 10th grade pass
Priority for women applicants
While detailed guidelines are yet to be disclosed, this scheme is expected to significantly enhance employment and financial independence for rural women across India.
