Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in France, scheduled for February 10-11. This event, considered a milestone in the global AI landscape, was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron during the 30th Conference of Ambassadors.
President Macron described the summit as a platform for international collaboration on AI, emphasizing its significance in innovation, talent, and global governance. He noted that key participants include the US, China, India, and Gulf nations, which play pivotal roles in shaping AI’s future.
“India’s presence is crucial, given its potential to create a meaningful impact through AI. We are eager to collaborate closely with India leading up to the summit,” Macron stated.
Hosted at the Grand Palais in Paris, the summit will feature representatives from over 90 countries, including leaders, academics, business executives, and members of civil society. Discussions will revolve around five core themes: AI for public interest, the future of work, fostering innovation and cultural progress, building trust in AI, and establishing global AI governance frameworks.
The French Presidency stressed the importance of addressing challenges like misinformation and the misuse of AI, stating these issues are central to the summit’s agenda. The event aims to position France and Europe as leaders in the AI landscape while fostering meaningful collaboration with countries like India.
Key events include stakeholder sessions on February 10, followed by a formal dinner hosted by President Macron. On February 11, a dedicated leaders’ session will be held exclusively for heads of state, solidifying international commitments to responsible AI development.
