Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Thursday morning, wrapping up his two-nation visit to Russia and Austria. In a post on X, PM Modi expressed gratitude to Austria’s Chancellor, government, and people for their warm welcome and hospitality. He described his visit as “historic” and “immensely productive.”
“My visit to Austria has been historic and highly productive, infusing new energy into the friendship between our nations. I am pleased to have participated in various programs during my time in Vienna. Thanks to Chancellor @karlnehammer, the Austrian Government, and its people for their warm hospitality and kindness,” PM Modi shared on X.
During his stay in Vienna, PM Modi also attended a community event on Wednesday, celebrating 75 years of friendship between India and Austria. He expressed his delight at the enthusiastic welcome he received and acknowledged the significance of being the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Austria in 41 years. The community warmly welcomed him with chants of “Modi, Modi,” showcasing the strong connection between India and its diaspora.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer thanked all those involved in organizing the state visit, highlighting the dedication and hard work of numerous individuals and teams. In a post on X, Chancellor Nehammer praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Army, the police, protocol officers, and others for their professional planning and execution of the visit.Nehammer highlighted the extensive preparation for PM Modi’s visit to Austria, involving dozens of employees working intensely for weeks, with hundreds more participating on the visit day. He expressed sincere appreciation to the teams at @MFA_Austria, @bkagvat, the Federal Army, police, protocol officers, and others for their professional planning, meticulous organization, and flawless execution.
Both leaders appreciated the tradition of cultural exchanges, noting the growing interest among Austrians in yoga and Ayurveda. They also recognized the importance of skill development and the mobility of skilled personnel to support expanded engagement in high-tech sectors. They applauded the implementation of the bilateral Migration and Mobility Agreement, which promotes these exchanges while addressing irregular migration.
During his visit, PM Modi held significant meetings with Austrian leaders, including Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Nehammer, to bolster bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration.
