Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 40 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack in 2019, paying homage to their bravery and sacrifice.
On ‘X,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his respects, stating, “I pay homage to the brave heroes who were martyred in Pulwama. Their dedication and sacrifice in service to our country will forever be commemorated.”
February 14, 2019, marks five years since the Pulwama terror attack, where 40 Indian soldiers were killed after a suicide bomber detonated an IED-laden vehicle into the security convoy carrying them.
Following the attack, on February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force conducted aerial strikes on JeM terror camps in Pakistan’s Balakot, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists and their infrastructure.
During the encounter, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, piloting a MiG-21 Bison fighter plane, pursued Pakistani jets into PoK, where his aircraft was shot down, leading to his capture by Pakistan. Additionally, India downed a Pakistani fighter jet.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Union Ministers Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Kiren Rijiju paid their tributes to the fallen soldiers, emphasizing their courage and sacrifice in defending the nation.
Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi also honored the martyrs, acknowledging their dedication to India’s defense and expressing gratitude for their supreme sacrifice.
