Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude for the unwavering and non-partisan backing provided by the US Congress to foster India-US relations. This acknowledgment came about during a meeting with a contingent of American lawmakers, led by Congressman Ro Khanna and Congressman Michael Waltz. These two Congressmen co-chair the bipartisan Congressional Caucus.
During their official visit to India, the delegation had the privilege of meeting with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi. Notable figures such as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Ajit Doval (India’s National Security Advisor), and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti were also in attendance at this event.
In a warm reception to the eight-member US delegation, PM Modi recollected his historic state visit to the US in June. During that visit, he had the honor of addressing a Joint Session of the US Congress for the second time. Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi shared his thoughts on social media, expressing his contentment in hosting the Congressional delegation. He highlighted the pivotal role that bipartisan support from the US Congress plays in enhancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
In conversations with Minister Jaishankar, the American lawmakers engaged in discussions about the ongoing transformation within India. They particularly explored the positive outcomes of improved governance and exchanged viewpoints on advancing the collaboration between the US and India. These discussions encompassed a wide array of subjects, including the global scenario and the two countries’ joint efforts on matters of multilateral, regional, and global importance, as stated by the Minister.
US Ambassador Garcetti, who was part of the delegation, conveyed his gratitude to PM Modi for the insightful dialogue and the Prime Minister’s vision for fortifying the bilateral partnership. In line with President Biden’s sentiments, Ambassador Garcetti emphasized the profound significance of the friendship between the US and India, which he described as being among the most consequential in the world. He further expressed his anticipation of a future that would see an even stronger bond between the two nations.
While in the capital, the bipartisan delegation actively participated in a roundtable organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). This platform facilitated enlightening discussions on the prospects of enhanced collaboration across various sectors. The overarching goal was to raise the strategic partnership between the US and India to unprecedented levels.
