Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Israel’s President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem, holding wide-ranging discussions aimed at further strengthening cooperation across key sectors including education, startups, innovation, technology and connectivity.
The meeting underscored the growing warmth and strategic depth of India-Israel relations. Both leaders reviewed the progress achieved in recent years and explored new avenues to expand collaboration, particularly in areas driven by knowledge, innovation and people-to-people engagement.
Prime Minister Modi thanked President Herzog for his consistent support in strengthening the special partnership between the two countries. In a symbolic gesture reflecting India’s emphasis on environmental consciousness, the Prime Minister planted a tree in the Presidential Gardens under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative and extended an invitation to President Herzog to visit India in the near future.
Ahead of the meeting, President Herzog shared visuals of the preparations being made for Prime Minister Modi’s welcome, expressing warmth and anticipation for the visit. The public messaging reflected the positive sentiment surrounding the Indian leader’s presence in Israel.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, where he laid a wreath in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Accompanied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior officials, he toured key sections of the memorial, including the Book of Names and the Hall of Remembrance, and signed the guest book.
The visit marked Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to Yad Vashem, reaffirming India’s respect for historical memory and its stand against hatred and intolerance. The solemn ceremony highlighted shared human values that underpin the relationship between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi is on a two-day State Visit to Israel and was accorded a grand welcome upon arrival. He also addressed a special plenary session of the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so — a moment widely seen as a milestone in bilateral relations.
The engagements during the visit reflect the expanding scope of India-Israel ties, moving beyond strategic cooperation into deeper collaboration across innovation, culture and shared democratic values.
