Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers in New Delhi on Tuesday. Although the meeting’s agenda wasn’t disclosed, it was reported that PM Modi urged ministers to actively engage in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a large-scale outreach campaign aimed at highlighting central schemes.
During the meeting, the prime minister emphasized that the outreach program is a crucial part of building a “viksit Bharat” (developed India). He directed ministers to concentrate on disseminating information about how the government’s schemes are positively impacting various sections of society.
To amplify the campaign’s reach, vehicles are being deployed to publicize government schemes across 0.255 million gram panchayats and nearly 18,000 locations in urban areas. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) vans are branded with different government initiatives like the Kisan Credit Card, rural housing scheme, Ujjwala scheme, and PM Svanidhi yojana.
As part of the Yatra, over 2,500 mobile performing vans and 200 mobile theatre vans will cover gram panchayats and clusters in all cities and towns. The outreach program follows a “whole-of-government approach,” with the Ministry of Agriculture leading the rural campaign and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting spearheading the urban campaign. Launched by the prime minister on November 15 from Jharkhand’s Khunti, the campaign, involving specially-designed IEC vans, will culminate on January 25, 2024.
