On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Jagannath Rath Yatra. Using his official handle on the social media platform X, he expressed hope for widespread happiness, prosperity, and good health.
“Warm wishes to all fellow citizens on the sacred occasion of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra. May this revered festival of faith and devotion bring joy, prosperity, good fortune, and excellent health to everyone. Jai Jagannath!” the Prime Minister posted.
In addition to the Rath Yatra, PM Modi also acknowledged Ashadhi Bij, the Kutch New Year, celebrated on the second day of the Hindu month of Ashadh. “Special greetings to the Kutchi community worldwide on Ashadhi Bij. May the year ahead bring peace, prosperity, and great health for everyone,” he added.
Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu extended her wishes to devotees both in India and abroad. In a message written in Odia on X, she said, “On this holy Rath Yatra, I send my heartfelt greetings to all devotees of Lord Jagannath. Witnessing the divine journey of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra, and the Sudarshan Chakra brings profound spiritual joy to millions.”
She also emphasized the symbolic value of the festival. “The divine enactment of the deities in human form is the soul of Rath Yatra. On this sacred day, I pray for global peace, harmony, and unity,” she wrote.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also marked the occasion with a thoughtful message, calling the Rath Yatra a remarkable blend of spirituality and tradition.
“Greetings to everyone on the divine festival of Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra. It reflects a deep union of devotion and culture, teaching us the value of moving forward while embracing our heritage. I pray to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra for everyone’s welfare and progress,” Shah posted.
The annual Rath Yatra remains one of India’s most spiritually significant festivals, celebrated with grandeur in Puri and across the country, drawing millions of devotees who come to witness the divine chariot procession of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
