Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras in Maharashtra through a video conference. Spanning 34 rural districts of Maharashtra, these centers will offer skill development training programs across various sectors, aiming to provide employment opportunities for rural youth, particularly benefiting disadvantaged communities such as the poor, Dalits, and those from backward and adivasi sections of society.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of this day in advancing the skill development of countless youth, highlighting that India is preparing skilled professionals not just for its domestic needs but also for the global market. The Skill Centers will equip local youth for international employment, offering training in fields like construction, modern farming, media and entertainment, and electronics. Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of soft skills training, including basic foreign language skills and utilizing AI tools for language interpretation to enhance their attractiveness to potential employers.
Through the Kaushal Vikas Scheme, over 1 crore young individuals have received training in various skills. Modi also underscored the need to manufacture products with zero defects, fortifying the country’s manufacturing industry and striving for self-reliance. He noted that the Industry 4.0 program and new skills are essential not only in manufacturing but also in the service sector, knowledge economy, and modern technology.
