Leaders from more than twenty nations have been invited to participate in the upcoming Gaza Peace Summit, which will be jointly chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The high-level conference, scheduled for Monday in Sharm El-Sheikh, aims to advance global diplomatic efforts toward lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a formal invitation from both the White House and the Egyptian authorities, India will be represented by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti V Singh, as neither Modi nor External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar could attend on such short notice. Modi is set to host Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa on Tuesday, while Jaishankar is slated for bilateral discussions with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Monday.
This international peace summit follows the successful mediation of an initial agreement between Israel and Hamas, which resulted in a ceasefire and the exchange of hostages and prisoners. While both Israel and Hamas will not be participating directly in this round of talks, the meeting is expected to strengthen diplomatic dialogue and humanitarian collaboration for the Gaza region.
Among the attendees are leaders from France, Germany, Turkey, the UK, Italy, Pakistan, Spain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the European Union. The gathering reflects a renewed push to stabilize the Gaza Strip and pave the way for sustained peace across the Middle East.
Egyptian officials stated that the summit’s core agenda focuses on humanitarian relief, reconstruction in Gaza, and establishing mechanisms for regional security and cooperation. The initiative is being closely monitored by global powers, with hopes that it will mark the beginning of a new chapter in diplomatic engagement for the region.
Prime Minister Modi has consistently supported Trump’s Gaza peace plan, calling the initial hostage release a “significant milestone” in international humanitarian efforts. During previous discussions, Modi congratulated Trump and reaffirmed India’s enduring commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at achieving a fair and durable peace.
According to Reuters, President Trump will first address Israel’s Knesset before traveling to Egypt for the world leaders’ summit, underscoring the United States’ renewed engagement in Middle East peace diplomacy.
