Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025’ and its accompanying exhibition in Bhubaneswar on January 27, 2025. This marked his second visit to Odisha in January, following his participation in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 event. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted that the 2025 edition of the conclave was the most significant business summit in the state’s history, with investor participation increasing five to six times compared to previous years. He commended the Odisha government for successfully organizing such a large-scale event.
Modi emphasized Eastern India’s crucial role in the nation’s economic growth, particularly Odisha’s historical importance in Southeast Asian trade. He noted the rising interest of ASEAN nations in strengthening economic ties with Odisha, opening up substantial business opportunities for the state.
He also outlined India’s trajectory toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy, stressing the importance of sustainable growth powered by renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and green hydrogen. Odisha, he noted, is well-positioned to benefit from investments in petrochemicals, green energy, and advanced infrastructure. He highlighted key developments such as dedicated freight corridors and industrial parks, which are set to enhance Odisha’s role in the blue economy.
Encouraging investors to explore Odisha’s expanding opportunities, he pointed to the state’s flourishing industries, including food processing, IT, EdTech, and textiles. He concluded by expressing confidence in Odisha’s growth potential, emphasizing that the combined efforts of the state government and industry stakeholders would drive development and prosperity in the coming years.
