Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jamui, Bihar, to commemorate ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ and honor the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Dressed in a white kurta, churidar, and an olive-green ethnic jacket, PM Modi received a warm welcome accompanied by a traditional dance performance.
During the event, he paid floral tributes to Birsa Munda’s statue and joined performers in a celebratory dance, even playing a traditional drum. As a gesture of appreciation, the Prime Minister was presented with an idol of Birsa Munda.
Later, PM Modi is scheduled to release a commemorative coin and postal stamp in Munda’s honor. Additionally, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various developmental projects valued at over $800 million. These initiatives focus on enhancing the lives of tribal communities and improving rural infrastructure.
One significant highlight of the event is the Grih Pravesh ceremony for 11,000 homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). These efforts underline the government’s commitment to empowering tribal communities.
Excitement was palpable among attendees in Jamui. Mausam Devi, a local, shared her gratitude, saying, “PM Modi has inspired us with his work for farmers. We received free ration during the COVID crisis, and it continues.” Another participant expressed pride in welcoming the Prime Minister, noting his significant contributions to supporting farmers, laborers, and the underprivileged.
