Through video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated newly electrified portions of railway tracks in Assam and signaled off the inaugural Vande Bharat Express train for the state.
The Vande Bharat Express would considerably shorten the trip’s duration as it would travel the 411 kilometers between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri in about 5 hours and 30 minutes. IT workers, businesspeople, students, and tourists will all profit from this train because it will be the quickest one on this route.
The newly electrified railroad track sections between Guwahati and Chaparkh and New Bongaigaon-Dudhnoi-Mendipather were also dedicated to the country by the prime minister. Additionally, he opened Lumding’s new DEMU/MEMU (workshop for trains) shed.
This marks India’s 18th Vande Bharat Express. The ‘Make in India’ program of Prime Minister Modi, which has been taken up by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), is the driving force behind these new trains, which are accelerating travel throughout the nation.
As a self-propelled semi-high-speed train set, Vande Bharat Express travels. Aerodynamic designs on both ends of the train set considerably minimize air drag and give the train a futuristic appearance. A centralized coach monitoring and control system is installed on the railway set. It includes eight coach chair vehicle configurations, a stainless steel vehicle body, and can seat 530 people while making the most of the available space aboard.
