Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pride in the Indian diaspora’s efforts to enhance India’s global engagement, ahead of the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event in Abu Dhabi today. He eagerly anticipated being among the UAE’s Indian diaspora at the programme. Despite challenging weather conditions, over 2,500 individuals participated in full-ground rehearsals and volunteer briefings.
Scheduled to address the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event at Zayed Sports City Stadium, PM Modi embarks on a two-day official visit to the UAE, his seventh since 2015 and third in the last eight months. Overwhelming enthusiasm from the Indian diaspora led organizers to close registrations as attendees exceeded 65,000. With around 3.5 million expatriates, Indians constitute about 35% of the UAE’s population.
The event features an exhibition by 700 cultural artists showcasing India’s diverse arts. Over 150 Indian community groups actively participate, highlighting India’s regional diversity and the integration of blue-collar workers. Following the event, PM Modi will inaugurate the BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi on February 14, following his enthusiastic acceptance of the invitation during a meeting with BAPS Swami Ishwarcharandas.
During his visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral meetings with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aiming to deepen and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. Additionally, he will participate in the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai as a Guest of Honour, delivering a special keynote address.
