Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a roundtable with twelve Indian AI start-ups at his residence in New Delhi, ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled for next month. The meeting brought together participants of the AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge, who presented their innovations and research to the Prime Minister.
The start-ups represented a wide array of AI applications, including Indian language foundation models, multilingual large language models (LLMs), speech-to-text, text-to-audio and video technologies, generative AI for 3D content in e-commerce and marketing, engineering simulations, material research, advanced analytics, and healthcare diagnostics. The founders praised India’s strong commitment to fostering an AI ecosystem and highlighted the sector’s rapid growth and potential, positioning India as a rising hub for AI innovation.
During the discussion, PM Modi emphasised AI’s transformative potential for society and underlined the significance of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit as a platform for global AI engagement. He encouraged start-ups to be co-creators of India’s future, promoting innovation alongside large-scale implementation. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of ethical, unbiased, transparent AI systems that adhere to data privacy standards.
Modi also highlighted the concept of “Made in India, Made for the World,” urging AI start-ups to focus on affordable, inclusive, and frugal innovation, while promoting local and regional content. He underscored India’s growing credibility on the global stage as a source of trusted AI solutions, aiming to create models that reflect the country’s unique strengths and technological capabilities.
The roundtable included CEOs and representatives from leading Indian AI companies such as Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra, and Zenteiq. Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present, reinforcing government support for India’s burgeoning AI sector.
