After attending a roundtable meeting with the CEOs of major tech companies, Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply committed to transforming India. This meeting, which took place during Modi’s visit to the U.S., saw the Indian Prime Minister highlighting India’s growth opportunities and stressing the importance of collaboration across sectors such as technology, healthcare, and education.
Pichai noted that PM Modi’s vision for Digital India continues to push the boundaries, encouraging companies to innovate and produce within the country. He proudly mentioned that Google has started manufacturing its Pixel phones in India and that the company is excited about the transformative potential of AI. Pichai further explained that Modi consistently challenges tech leaders to explore how AI can benefit critical sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.
The tech roundtable, hosted at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, included CEOs from 15 leading American firms engaged in AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that partnerships like the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) are central to the strategic relationship between India and the United States. He highlighted India’s ambition to become the third-largest economy in his third term and urged the companies to leverage India’s vibrant growth story.
In the meeting, PM Modi’s focus on fostering innovation was clear. CEOs of companies like Adobe, Accenture, NVIDIA, and IBM were impressed with Modi’s understanding of the latest technologies, particularly AI, and shared their enthusiasm for partnering with India. NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, praised Modi’s curiosity and foresight, expressing optimism about deeper collaborations with Indian startups and institutions like the IITs.
PM Modi also assured the CEOs of India’s strong commitment to intellectual property protection and encouraged them to invest in the country’s rapidly growing sectors, especially in electronics and semiconductors. He reiterated his government’s goal to turn India into a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing.
Additionally, Modi discussed India’s BIO E3 policy, aimed at harnessing biotechnology for environmental, economic, and employment growth. He further elaborated on India’s approach to AI, stressing its ethical and responsible use for the benefit of all citizens.
In response, the CEOs expressed confidence in India’s status as a global tech hub, praising the country’s innovation-friendly policies and expressing interest in further investments. The discussions cemented a shared vision of collaboration between India and the U.S. tech community, paving the way for a bright future of technological advancement.
