Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Anutin Charnvirakul on his election as the Prime Minister of Thailand, expressing his eagerness to work closely with the newly elected leader.
In his message, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Thailand. He emphasised that the relationship between the two countries is rooted in shared civilisational heritage, strong cultural ties, and vibrant people-to-people connections.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to deeper cooperation, he noted that both nations share common aspirations for peace, progress, and prosperity. The message underlined the intent to further enhance bilateral collaboration across various sectors in the coming years.
Anutin Charnvirakul secured victory in a parliamentary vote after gaining the support of a majority in the House of Representatives. His party emerged as the leading force in the elections, enabling him to form the government. He defeated his closest rival, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, who received significantly fewer votes.
Following his victory, Charnvirakul assured lawmakers that he would work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure national development and public welfare. His leadership is expected to focus on strengthening governance and advancing Thailand’s economic and social priorities.
The development marks a new phase in India-Thailand relations, with both sides likely to expand engagement in trade, connectivity, regional security, and cultural exchanges.
