Narendra Modi kicks off the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20) in New Delhi. Hosted by the Indian Parliament under India’s G20 Presidency, the summit is a gathering of global parliamentary practices.
In his address, Modi described it as the “mahakumbh” of parliamentary practices, emphasizing the significance of parliaments as platforms for debate and deliberation. He lauded India’s moon landing achievement and the successful conclusion of the G20 summit, underlining the country’s role as the world’s largest democracy.
Amid ongoing conflicts worldwide, particularly the Israel-Palestine situation, Modi stressed that a divided world cannot address current challenges, advocating for peace, unity, and collective progress.
The P20 Summit brought together Speakers of Parliaments from G20 member nations and invitee countries, focusing on the theme, ‘Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future.’
Representatives from multiple countries attended the event, with the exception of Canada, as reported by ANI. The summit’s key topics include public digital platforms’ impact on people’s lives, women-led development, SDG acceleration, and sustainable energy transition.
