Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali 2025 in the company of security personnel onboard India’s aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. Addressing the Navy personnel, he described the festival as special, remarking that spending it among the armed forces was a unique and memorable experience. He praised the formidable reputation of INS Vikrant, noting that its very name had recently struck fear across Pakistan, emphasizing the power and prestige of India’s naval capabilities.
Observing the fleet’s advanced military equipment, PM Modi highlighted not just the technological prowess of ships, submarines, and aircraft, but the courage and dedication of those who operate them. “These vessels may be made of iron, but the personnel onboard make them living, breathing symbols of our defence strength,” he remarked.
Reflecting on Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister commended the exceptional coordination and skill demonstrated by the Indian Navy, Air Force, and Army, which had compelled Pakistan to surrender swiftly during the operation. He emphasized the successful use of BrahMos and Akash missiles, underscoring India’s growing ambition to become a leading defence exporter. According to PM Modi, India’s defence exports have increased thirtyfold over the past eleven years, drawing global attention to the country’s capabilities.
Since assuming office in 2014, PM Modi has consistently chosen to celebrate Diwali with the nation’s security forces, previously marking the festival at locations such as Siachen Glacier and the Dograi War Memorial in Punjab. On the occasion, he also addressed the broader Indian public, extending festive greetings and wishing for harmony, happiness, and prosperity nationwide.
Encouraging citizens to support domestic industries, PM Modi urged Indians to buy swadeshi products, celebrating the creativity and hard work of the nation’s 140 crore people. He suggested sharing purchases on social media to inspire others, reinforcing the message of pride in homegrown goods. Through these initiatives, the Prime Minister combined festive cheer with patriotic and economic encouragement, making Diwali 2025 a celebration of both light and national pride.
