The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 13, 2021, has completed three years of reshaping India’s infrastructure landscape. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, emphasized how the initiative has revolutionized the coordination and planning of infrastructure projects. The integration of data from more than 44 central ministries and 36 states and union territories has significantly improved the efficiency of project implementation, reduced logistics costs, and bolstered service delivery nationwide. Through this platform, over 200 major infrastructure projects have been evaluated, prioritizing enhanced multimodal connectivity and resource allocation.
Furthermore, the PM GatiShakti initiative has expanded its scope to the social sector, addressing service gaps in critical areas such as healthcare and education, ensuring that underserved communities benefit from infrastructure growth. Each state and union territory has developed its own State Master Plan in alignment with the national framework, streamlining capital investments and fostering coordinated development efforts. The initiative has also contributed to improving India’s global logistics standing, as reflected in the country’s advancement in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index. Moving forward, the program aims to foster cross-sector collaboration and embrace new technologies, positioning it as a key pillar in the vision of a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) and future infrastructure growth.
