Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, oversaw the “Chintan Shivir – Unleashing the power of India’s Manufacturing Industry” at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the manufacturing ecosystem and sought input for achieving economies of scale more rapidly.
The event brought together industry leaders from prominent organizations such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), and knowledge partners BCG and McKinsey.
Discussions at the event spanned 12 manufacturing industry sectors, including Textiles, Capital Goods, Auto and EV, Defence, Aerospace & Space, Metals & Mining, Leather and footwear, Energy, Food Processing, Chemicals, Medical Devices, ESDM Value Chains, and Drones. These discussions delved into key issues like nurturing the manufacturing ecosystem, upholding quality standards, promoting domestic value addition, and examining government policies and support. The conversations laid the foundation for innovative strategies, increased trade, integration with global supply chains, and enhanced financial backing for the Indian manufacturing sector.
Each sector’s presentations offered comprehensive insights into their industry, covering export potential, current and future prospects, the ecosystem, policy environment, technological advancements, and skill development programs. Attendees also received an overview of proposed collaborative efforts between the government and each sector to advance these initiatives.
