Param Sundari, featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, had a sharper-than-expected dip on its first Monday but still managed to deliver steady numbers. Thanks to decent overseas earnings along with its Indian run, the film has already crossed the $6 million milestone at the global box office, making it Malhotra’s top-grossing film in the post-COVID era.
Four-day worldwide performance
The romantic comedy, backed by Maddock Films, is benefiting from positive word-of-mouth and brand credibility. In India, the movie collected around $3.8 million net in its first four days. After adding taxes, the domestic gross stands at about $4.5 million. Overseas, the film has earned $1.5 million. Altogether, the worldwide gross has touched $6 million in just four days.
Box office breakdown (4 days):
- India net: $3.8 million
- India gross: $4.5 million
- Overseas gross: $1.5 million
- Worldwide gross: $6 million
With this, Param Sundari surpassed Yodha, which grossed $6 million slightly less at $5.99 million, to claim the title of Sidharth’s highest earner after the pandemic. It also overtook Thank God, which wrapped up at $5.1 million.
Competition ahead
Despite the strong start, the road ahead looks challenging. On September 5, Baaghi 4, starring Tiger Shroff, hits theaters. Given the franchise’s established popularity and Shroff’s mass appeal, Param Sundari is expected to lose a notable share of screens.
For the film to be considered financially safe in India, it needs to reach at least $7.2 million net domestically. While the target is achievable, sustaining momentum against Baaghi 4 will be a test.
So far, Param Sundari has proven to be a milestone in Malhotra’s career, setting a fresh benchmark for his post-COVID filmography while raising the stakes for its upcoming box office battle.
