Joining the festivities virtually, Deputy Consul General Vishal Jayeshbhai Harsh represented the Consulate General of India in New York, sharing greetings and emphasizing Diwali’s enduring themes of light, hope, and joy. The Indian Consulate General highlighted the event on social media, praising the community’s active role in New York City’s dynamic life.
Meanwhile, in Florida, the Indian Consul (Education) and Head of Chancery in Atlanta attended the inaugural Diwali celebration at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee. The event brought together state officials, dignitaries, and members of the Indian diaspora to honor India’s rich cultural heritage and the festival of lights. It marked a historic first, reinforcing the growing recognition of Indian traditions across US state institutions.
Earlier, New York Governor Kathy Hochul participated in Diwali celebrations at the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Flushing, New York. DCG Vishal J. Harsh conveyed festive greetings and acknowledged the Governor’s ongoing support for the Indian diaspora, reinforcing the strong bond between local leaders and the community.
In Houston, Indian Consul General D.C. Manjunath joined Mayor John Whitmire at City Hall for a lively Diwali celebration. The Consul General expressed gratitude to the Mayor and the city for hosting the event, highlighting the festival as a symbol of unity in diversity and shared US-India values. The celebration featured cultural performances, including the classical dance form Kathak, captivating attendees and strengthening communal ties.
