The Indian American community warmly received the recently appointed Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, during a meet-and-greet event held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan USA. This organization, active since 1981, promotes Indian culture, including Hindi, Sanskrit, and classical dances.
Consul General Pradhan, addressing the community, encouraged them to provide feedback on the consulate’s operations and the government of India. He emphasized that such input would aid in enhancing their performance during his tenure, expressing the importance of community support for effective consulate service.
Having served as the High Commissioner of India in Tanzania, Pradhan commended the contribution and success of the Indian American diaspora in the United States. He underscored the global aspirations of the Indian diaspora to replicate the impact achieved by Indian Americans both in the U.S. and in India.
Pradhan shared an anecdote illustrating the influence of Indian Americans, citing their role in the establishment of an IIT in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The locals expressed a desire to emulate the success stories of Indian Americans who graduated from IITs and now lead Fortune 500 companies in the U.S., aiming to create a similar impact in Africa.
The Consul General also participated in celebrating the 75th Republic Day of India at the school and engaged with Bhavan directors, including Navin Mehta and Dr. H R Shah, during his reception at Bhavan’s Romanti Auditorium.
