A women and child empowerment group in Massachusetts was recently awarded $25,000 by the New York-based Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF). The money was given to the Desai Foundation, and it will be used to support business programs and technical education training for women and young girls in Tamil Nadu.
An official statement claims that the contribution, which will fund the required vocational training, would help 400 women and girls aged 18 and older. Sewing and design, beautician training, candle and clay lamp manufacturing, computer instruction, and other classes are among those scheduled. A portion of the money will be used to provide access to advanced entrepreneurship courses that will cover everything from management and finance to sales and marketing, as well as to distribute feminine hygiene products.
