Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the UN International Day of Yoga celebrations as the Chief Guest, where a new Guinness World Record was set for the largest yoga lesson with participants from 135 nationalities. This surpassed the previous record held by Qatar, which had participants from 114 nations in 2022. Over 1,500 people, including UN diplomats, yoga teachers, and celebrities, gathered to practice yoga alongside the Prime Minister. Modi expressed his gratitude to those who traveled long distances to attend the early morning event. He actively participated in the yoga session, guided by instructor Annelies Richmond from The Art of Living, and wore a traditional white T-shirt and pants. The official record plaque was presented by Guinness Book Adjudicator Michel Empiric to Ruchira Khamboj, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, in the presence of Prime Minister Modi on stage.
