The Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, has launched a mobile application called “Report Fish Disease.” This innovative app allows farmers to report cases of disease in finfish, shrimps, and molluscs on their farms to field-level officers and fish health experts. Farmers can receive scientific advice to promptly address the disease issues on their farms. The app serves as a centralized platform connecting fish farmers, field-level officers, and fish health experts.
In order to tap into the sector’s significant development potential and promote the Blue Revolution, the Government of India has introduced a flagship scheme called the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This scheme involves a record investment of $2,693 million, marking the highest-ever investment in the fisheries and aquaculture sector in the country, as stated by Rupala.
