The Netherlands has modified its ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup squad for the final match against India. Pacer Ryan Klein’s exclusion due to a back injury led to the promotion of young batter Noah Croes into the 15-player lineup. The tournament’s Event Technical Committee approved the change, allowing Croes to potentially play in the Sunday clash against undefeated India in Bengaluru.
Despite limited international experience, Croes, who played one ODI during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, now has the opportunity to contribute in the final. His previous appearance saw him scoring seven against Sri Lanka. In contrast, Klein’s sole outing against New Zealand in Hyderabad resulted in him going wicketless from seven overs.
While the Netherlands is no longer in contention for the World Cup semi-finals, a victory against India could secure one of eight qualification spots for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
Netherlands Squad: Wesley Barresi, Teja Nidamanuru, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Noah Croes, Vikram Singh, Logan van Beek, Shariz Ahmad, Colin Ackermann, Saqib Zulfiqar, Roelof van der Merwe, Max O’Dowd, Paul van Meekeren, Scott Edwards (c), Bas de Leede, Aryan Dutt.
