The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to engage in discussions on various topics. Al-Issa, who is currently visiting India, also delivered a speech at an event organized by the Khusro Foundation and the India Islamic Cultural Centre.
During his address at the India-Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi, Sheikh Dr Al-Issa praised the unity and sense of national pride displayed by the Muslim community in India. He acknowledged their pride in being Indian nationals and their admiration for the Indian Constitution.
Dr Al-Issa also recognized India’s significant contributions to humanity, particularly mentioning the country’s renowned wisdom. He highlighted the shared goal of peaceful coexistence and applauded India’s diverse components as an exceptional example of harmony in both theory and practice. He sincerely appreciated the efforts made to promote coexistence within India.
The official visit of Al-Issa to India was made possible through an invitation from the Indian government. The MWL, an international non-governmental organization based in Mecca, represents members from various Islamic countries and sects. Its mission is to promote Islam and its principles of tolerance, provide humanitarian aid, foster dialogue and cooperation, embrace diverse cultures and civilizations, advocate moderation, and counter extremist ideologies that promote violence and exclusion.
