Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani met U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday, ahead of his swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Monday. The Ambanis will have a prominent seat at the inauguration, sharing the platform with Trump’s Cabinet nominees, elected officials, and other notable guests.
The couple arrived in Washington, D.C., on January 18 and has been participating in pre-inaugural events, including a reception and fireworks display held at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. They are also attending an exclusive candlelight dinner tonight with President-elect Trump, Vice President-elect JD Vance, and Usha Vance, among other prominent figures.
The inauguration is set to draw high-profile attendees, including tech magnates Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as French entrepreneur Xavier Niel. Zuckerberg is co-hosting a black-tie reception with Republican donor Miriam Adelson on Monday evening, which the Ambanis are also expected to attend.
Representing the Indian government, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will also be present at the inauguration, emphasizing the significance of India-U.S. relations.
Donald Trump, previously the 45th U.S. President from 2017 to 2021, will take office as the 47th President, marking his second non-consecutive term. The Ambanis’ attendance at these high-profile events signals the strengthening of India-U.S. business ties amidst Trump’s renewed presidency.
