To mark the event of “National Small Industries Day,” Mr. Narayan Rane, the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, highlighted a significant achievement. He shared that the Ministry of MSME operates 18 tool rooms and technology centers across the country, having trained 1.6 million youth over the past nine years. This training has subsequently benefitted more than 300,000 MSME units.
Mr. Rane emphasized that these Tool Rooms and Technology Centers of the Ministry of MSME are playing a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India. They not only provide training but also offer step-by-step assistance in the production of advanced items.
According to Mr. Rane, these facilities are responsible for designing and manufacturing medium and small-sized equipment that adhere to global standards. These products find application in various industries, including sports goods, plastics, automobiles, footwear, glass, perfumes, foundry and forging, electronics, and even the space sector.
A noteworthy example is the Bhubaneswar Tool Room, which contributed by producing about 54,000 aerospace components of 437 different types for the recently launched Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft.
Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, these tool rooms played a vital role in meeting domestic demands for PPE kits, sanitizing machines, and oxygen concentrators. They even extended their support by exporting these essential items to foreign countries.
Mr. Rane also shared his plans for the future. He announced via Twitter that the establishment of 15 new technological centers is underway to further strengthen the capabilities of the country’s MSME units.
