Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, have jointly introduced the Study in India (SII) Portal in New Delhi. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of reinstating India’s global reputation in education.
As part of the event, students from countries like Russia, Thailand, Japan, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Korea, who are presently studying in India, offered cultural souvenirs as a gesture of respect to the dignitaries.
The “Study in India Portal” is a specialized website that will provide comprehensive information about Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). It will showcase academic programs, including undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral level offerings, as well as courses within the Indian Knowledge System, such as yoga, ayurveda, and classical arts. The portal will also furnish details about academic facilities, research support, and related subjects. Notably, students can now apply to multiple institutes/courses through this platform, which offers an integrated solution for student registration and visa applications.
During the event, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that the SII Portal serves as a convenient resource to enhance the educational experience for foreign students in India. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), this portal signifies the commitment to position India as a sought-after educational destination and eliminate academic barriers for a prosperous future. He asserted that the Study in India Portal is a pivotal step in establishing India as a favored choice for global students seeking higher education.
The Study in India program involves collaboration with educational institutions that meet specific criteria, such as National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking (<=100), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation score (>=3.01), and Institutes of National Importance (INI). This ensures that esteemed institutions partner in facilitating the enrollment of international students.
For international students seeking higher education options in Indian institutes, the Study in India program offers a streamlined and organized application process. The online platform simplifies the entire procedure, enabling students to select courses, receive institute offer letters, and pursue their academic goals in India. This encompassing experience spans from registration to visa approval, making the SII program appealing to talented students worldwide who wish to thrive in India’s dynamic and culturally diverse academic environment.
Administered by the Ministry of Education (MoE), the Government of India’s flagship initiative, Study in India, strives to attract a greater number of foreign students. The objective is to elevate India to the pinnacle of preferred study destinations by delivering affordable, high-quality education that meets global standards.
