
Coumar Ananda, President of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry France-India, has called Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to France and India’s co-chairing of the AI Action Summit a major step forward for both nations. He emphasized that AI is no longer just a technological advancement but a crucial geopolitical subject shaping global governance, security, and workforce dynamics.
“This visit and India’s role as co-chair of the AI Summit in Paris mark a pivotal milestone for both India and France. AI is now central to political and geopolitical discussions, making this summit highly significant,” Ananda stated. He outlined the five core themes of the summit: AI governance, AI for public interest, its impact on culture and creative industries, workforce and HR development, and cybersecurity threats. He stressed that India’s growing influence in the global AI landscape is evident through its leadership in these discussions.
Ananda also expressed hopes for deeper India-France collaboration in AI and technology, underscoring the importance of bilateral partnerships. During his visit from February 10 to 12, Prime Minister Modi will co-chair the AI Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and engage with industry leaders at the India-France CEOs Forum.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing, reiterated India’s commitment to ensuring AI is designed, developed, and deployed responsibly. He emphasized the need for ethical and trustworthy AI applications that benefit humanity.
This visit marks Modi’s sixth official trip to France, further strengthening diplomatic and technological ties between the two nations.
