During the BRICS Summit Outreach Session on “Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs and Artificial Intelligence,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out India’s strategic vision for responsible AI. Addressing leaders from Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the UAE, Modi emphasized India’s commitment to developing AI in a manner that upholds human values and social progress.
He stressed the need for global AI governance that promotes innovation while guarding against ethical challenges, such as algorithmic bias, misinformation, and digital misuse. Modi reiterated India’s inclusive philosophy of “AI for All,” explaining how AI is already reshaping Indian sectors like education, agriculture, healthcare, and governance. To encourage collaboration, he announced India would host an “AI Impact Summit” in 2026 and extended an open invitation to BRICS nations to jointly frame international standards that ensure safe and equitable AI deployment.
Beyond AI, the Prime Minister spotlighted the growing significance of the BRICS bloc in a rapidly evolving global landscape. He proposed setting up a centralized BRICS Science and Research Repository to enable more meaningful technological cooperation. Modi also called for expanding the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform, already hosted in India, to support sustainable food systems.
He stressed the urgency of building resilient supply chains for critical minerals—a necessity for future-facing industries—and urged the BRICS New Development Bank to adopt a flexible, demand-led approach that prioritizes long-term sustainability.
Positioning BRICS as a pillar of a new multipolar global order, Modi urged member nations to work together in shaping inclusive and fair international frameworks that can address both present and future challenges.
