In a recent survey by Morning Consult, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again been recognized as the world’s most popular leader, boasting an impressive 69% approval rating. The survey, which gathered data from July 8-14, 2024, places Modi at the forefront among 25 global leaders.
Following Modi, Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador holds the second position with a 63% approval rating. Argentina’s President Javier Milei is third with 60%. The top six also includes Switzerland’s Federal Councillor Viola Amherd (52%), Ireland’s Simon Harris (47%), and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer (45%).
Modi’s enduring popularity can be attributed to his dynamic leadership and effective governance, even amidst difficulties. Although his party faced setbacks in the 2024 spring elections and lost its parliamentary majority, Modi continues to enjoy the confidence of the Indian public.
The survey also reflects lower approval ratings for other prominent global leaders, such as US President Joe Biden (39%), Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (29%), and France’s President Emmanuel Macron (20%). Japan and South Korea’s leaders recorded the lowest approval ratings among those surveyed.
These rankings highlight India’s increasing influence on the global stage and the significant trust in Modi’s leadership as the country navigates complex geopolitical issues and strives for economic progress.
