On the final day of his two-day state visit to Israel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. The talks, attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and other senior officials, focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, technology, innovation, defence, and people-to-people relations.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi met Israel President Isaac Herzog at the Presidential Gardens, where they explored ways to strengthen collaboration in education, start-ups, technology, and connectivity. During the visit, Modi planted a tree under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, symbolizing environmental commitment, and formally invited Herzog to visit India in the near future. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the “ties of warmth and goodwill” between the two nations and underscored the leaders’ shared vision for expanding cooperation in multiple sectors.
Prior to meeting President Herzog, Modi visited the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Centre, paying homage to the victims of the Holocaust. Accompanied by PM Netanyahu and Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan, he toured the Book of Names, a monumental installation listing 4.8 million Jewish victims, and participated in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance. Modi also signed the Yad Vashem guest book, marking his second visit to the site, having first visited in July 2017.
The visit included a historic address to a Special Plenary of the Knesset, making Modi the first Indian Prime Minister to speak at Israel’s Parliament. During his speech, he reinforced India’s commitment to countering terrorism, highlighted rapid economic growth, and emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral ties.
Modi’s two-day visit to Israel showcased the expanding strategic, economic, and technological partnership between the two nations. From high-level delegation talks to cultural and historical engagements, the trip underscored shared values, mutual respect, and a long-term vision for collaboration in innovation, education, and sustainable development.
