Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, focusing on the escalating situation in West Asia and the urgent need to reduce tensions in the region. Both leaders stressed the importance of returning to dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the primary path to resolving ongoing conflicts.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in West Asia and emphasized the need for continued coordination with France to support global efforts aimed at preventing further escalation. The leaders agreed that sustained communication between like-minded nations is essential in addressing the complex security challenges emerging in the region.
The talks come at a time when West Asia continues to experience heightened instability following recent military escalations involving multiple regional and global powers. These developments have led to retaliatory strikes, cross-border tensions, and growing concerns over the safety of civilians and strategic infrastructure across the Gulf region.
In recent days, India has been actively engaging with several countries in the region to manage the crisis diplomatically. Prime Minister Modi has spoken with leaders from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar. These discussions reflect India’s broader diplomatic approach of maintaining open channels of communication with all key stakeholders involved in the conflict.
Earlier conversations also included discussions with the leadership of Kuwait, where concerns over regional security and sovereignty were addressed. India reiterated its position against actions that threaten territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and welfare of Indian citizens living in the Gulf region.
Separately, discussions with the United Arab Emirates focused on strengthening cooperation to ensure maritime security and safe passage through critical routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for global trade and energy supply. Both sides agreed on the importance of protecting civilian lives and infrastructure amid ongoing instability.
India’s continued engagement with multiple countries highlights its diplomatic strategy of promoting restraint, dialogue, and long-term peace in West Asia. Through consistent communication with global partners, India aims to contribute constructively to reducing tensions and restoring stability in the region.
