Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the Quad’s growing importance as a key group of like-minded nations working towards peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. His remarks came just before his three-day visit to the United States, where he will participate in the Quad Summit, hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington.
During the trip, Modi is also set to address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UN General Assembly in New York. Expressing enthusiasm, he said, “I look forward to joining President Biden, Prime Minister Albanese, and Prime Minister Kishida at the Quad Summit, a crucial forum for promoting peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.”
The US visit comes ahead of the country’s presidential elections in November, and India is scheduled to host the Quad Leaders’ Summit in 2025. Modi highlighted his meeting with President Biden as an opportunity to deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, benefiting both nations and the global community.
In keeping with tradition, Modi will engage with the Indian diaspora and meet American business leaders during his visit, underscoring their vital role in strengthening the partnership between the world’s largest and oldest democracies.
Additionally, PM Modi views the UN’s ‘Summit of the Future’ as a significant opportunity for the international community to shape a peaceful and secure future. He intends to share India’s perspective on the global stage, representing one-sixth of humanity.
