Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly felicitated on Tuesday during a gathering of all MPs from the National Democratic Alliance, following the coalition’s emphatic victory in the recent Bihar assembly elections. The meeting, held inside the Parliament House complex, brought together senior leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president JP Nadda, reflecting the significance of the win for the ruling alliance.
At the ceremony, Modi was presented with a large garland by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, both members of the Rajya Sabha. Their gesture symbolized the collective appreciation of alliance partners for the prime minister’s leadership during the high-stakes electoral contest.
This recognition followed a meeting on Monday, when a delegation of NDA leaders from Bihar met Modi to personally congratulate him on the alliance’s sweeping performance. Addressing the NDA MPs earlier, Modi encouraged them to intensify their efforts toward public welfare, noting that a victory of such scale also brings increased responsibility. He emphasized that the people’s mandate should inspire the coalition to deliver governance with greater energy and commitment.
The Bihar assembly elections, held last month for the 243-seat legislature, resulted in a commanding majority for the NDA, which secured 202 seats. This outcome cleared the path for JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar to return as chief minister for the tenth time, marking yet another chapter in his long political career.
Among the alliance partners, the BJP won 89 seats, while the JD(U) emerged close behind with 85. The LJP (Ram Vilas) secured 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) won five, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha captured four seats, together forming a comfortable margin for governance.
The dominating performance reaffirmed the NDA’s political hold in Bihar and strengthened its position on the national stage. Leaders attending the parliamentary gathering expressed confidence that the fresh mandate offers renewed momentum for policy implementation and development work.
