Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi to discuss ways to deepen bilateral collaboration, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the leaders reflected on the long-standing ties between India and the UAE, expressed satisfaction over progress in multiple sectors, and explored new avenues for AI cooperation. Sheikh Khaled, attending on behalf of the UAE President, arrived in New Delhi late Wednesday and was welcomed by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani.
The India AI Impact Summit, chaired by PM Modi, is being hosted for the first time in the Global South and brings together heads of state, senior officials, and AI sector leaders to discuss ethical and responsible AI adoption. PM Modi inaugurated the event at Bharat Mandapam, highlighting India’s leadership as a hub for technology and innovation.
Speaking at the summit, Modi noted that India represents one-sixth of the global population and serves as a major center for youth talent, technology development, and adoption. “It is a matter of pride for the Global South that this historic AI summit is being hosted in India,” he said, underscoring the nation’s role in shaping responsible AI practices.
Demonstrating practical applications of the technology, an AI-enabled sign language interpretation was displayed during the Prime Minister’s address, reflecting the inclusive potential of AI for communication and accessibility.
The meeting and summit underscore India and UAE’s commitment to advanced technology partnerships, aiming to foster a shared vision for a smarter, ethically guided AI-driven future.
