Indian American physicians from Monmouth and Ocean County, represented by the Monmouth and Ocean County chapter of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (MOCAAPI), hosted their annual charity gala at the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel. The event, aptly titled “A Night of Pink and Hope,” was a sold-out success, attracting more than 250 guests for an evening filled with celebration, awareness, and giving.
The gala served as an important fundraising event, with attendees generously supporting a cause that aligns with MOCAAPI’s mission. Dr. Rekha Gohel, the President of MOCAAPI, announced with pride that the approximately $140,000 raised would be donated to the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign, which aids breast cancer patients and funds critical research.
A memorable highlight of the evening was Assemblywoman Dr. Margie Donlon’s presentation of a Joint Legislative Resolution to Dr. Rekha Gohel, honoring MOCAAPI’s sustained commitment to community service. The honor shed light on the event’s meaningful impact and reinforced the pivotal role Indian American physicians play in championing essential healthcare efforts.
Centered on breast cancer awareness, the gala not only supported vital research but also acted as a platform for strengthening community support for those affected by the disease. Through this philanthropic effort, MOCAAPI reaffirmed its dedication to driving positive change in the battle against breast cancer.
