Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani during the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Italy. They discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in investments, start-ups, and energy between India and Italy. Minister Goyal also congratulated Tajani on successfully hosting the G7 Trade Ministers’ meeting.
Minister Goyal’s visit to Italy is part of India’s efforts to highlight its extensive trade and investment opportunities globally. He shared on social media, “It was a pleasure to meet @Antonio_Tajani, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister. We discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in investments, start-ups, and energy. Looking forward to strengthening our trade ties. Congratulations on hosting the G7 Trade Ministers’ meeting.”
Additionally, Minister Goyal held talks with the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade to deepen economic relations, including ongoing FTA negotiations. He emphasized the mutual benefits of finalizing an agreement between India and the UK.
During his visit, Minister Goyal also met with Robert Habeck, Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs & Climate Action. Discussions focused on boosting Indo-German trade ties in preparation for upcoming Inter-Governmental Consultations and the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Businesses in Delhi.
Before Italy, Goyal visited Switzerland to advance discussions on the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). Signed in March 2024, the agreement aims to attract USD 100 billion in investment and create one million jobs in India over the next 15 years.
