Mexico celebrated the inauguration of its inaugural Lord Ram temple in Queretaro, with the consecration ceremony held on January 21. The temple features idols imported from India, and the consecration was led by an American priest in collaboration with Mexican hosts. The Indian diaspora in attendance added to the joyous occasion by singing hymns. The Indian embassy in Mexico shared highlights of the ceremony, emphasizing the divine energy felt during the event.
The embassy’s post on social media highlighted the significance of this milestone, stating, “First Lord Ram temple in Mexico! As the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony approached in Ayodhya, the city of Queretaro in Mexico witnessed the establishment of its initial Lord Ram temple. Furthermore, Queretaro proudly hosts the inaugural Lord Hanuman temple in Mexico. The ceremony showcased a harmonious blend of Indian cultural practices in a foreign setting.
As of October 2023, Mexico has a diverse Indian community of around 8,000 individuals, with significant concentrations in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cuernavaca, Queretaro, and Cancun. The majority are IT professionals, executives, academicians, and businesspersons, contributing to various sectors such as pharmaceuticals and textiles.
Simultaneously, the pran-pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya occurred on January 22, attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the event held at the recently built Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Uttar Pradesh, Modi conveyed the result of centuries of endurance and sacrifices. He proclaimed, “After enduring centuries with countless sacrifices, renunciation, and penance, our revered Shri Ram is now present.” Modi acknowledged the divine energy experienced during the consecration, affirming that the sacred temple is now the residence for Ram Lalla.
