The national initiative known as ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh,’ which celebrates India’s land and valor as a unified tribute to the nation’s journey towards freedom and progress, is gearing up for its second phase. In this upcoming phase, Amrit Kalash Yatras are being organized all over India.
This nationwide outreach program aims to reach every household in the country. Soil and rice grains are being collected from over six lakh rural villages and urban wards across India. By the end of October, it is anticipated that more than 8500 pots filled with soil from various parts of India will arrive in Delhi for the final program. The collected soil will be placed in the Amrit Vatika and Amrit Memorial, establishing a lasting legacy to honor the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
In the first phase of the campaign, over 2.33 lakh memorials or shilaphalakams, bearing the names of freedom fighters, defense personnel, Central Armed Police Forces, and State Police who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, have already been constructed nationwide.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled this campaign during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, and it was officially launched as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on August 9th. The program has garnered extensive public participation, with over two lakh events organized under the Meri Mati Mera Desh initiative, as stated in an official release.
