Bobbie Singh-Allen, the Punjabi American mayor of Elk Grove, has been recognized in the Sacramento Bee’s 2023 list of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Change Makers, alongside three other alumni from Sacramento State.
Described as individuals who challenge norms, build community, and lead with unwavering commitment, the Change Makers list celebrates 20 individuals for their impactful contributions.
Singh-Allen assumed office as Mayor of Elk Grove in November 2020 after serving on the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees, where she was subsequently elected to two consecutive four-year terms, including a tenure as board president. Under her leadership, the district achieved robust financial reserves and forged stronger management-labor relationships while enhancing Career and Technical Education offerings.
With over twenty years of advocacy experience across various sectors, Singh-Allen has held leadership positions in statewide associations, advocating for industries like hospitality, gas stations, convenience stores, and housing and community development.
Additionally, she has provided government relations and public affairs consultancy, offering expertise on land use development, affordable housing, real estate, and related matters to diverse clients.
Beyond her current responsibilities, Singh-Allen serves as an elected State Commissioner for Visit California and represents Elk Grove on several boards and commissions, including the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC), Sacramento Transportation Authority (STA), and Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT).
Recognized as “Woman of the Year” for Assembly District 9 in 2015, Singh-Allen holds a J.D. from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento and a B.A. in Government from California State University.
